Keeping chickens can also bring back a sense of self sufficiency, like we can feel when we grow our own herbs and vegetables, it also feels good to watch chickens live in a good stress free home rather than as battery hens or in over cramped barns. Even if you don't eat chicken or eggs, some people, as in the UK adopt battery hens just to give chickens a good home :-)
